will be in wisconsin, where he is right now, with nevada, colorado, ohio, iowa, virginia, and florida. of course, they're sending their number one surrogates, the vp nominee, out where they're not going. is this the map, centered in ohio, virginia, and florida, is it still where the action is? >> it is for governor romney for sure. it's always been the case that governor romney needs to win florida, needs to win virginia, and pretty much needs to win ohio. even then he still needs to pick up another state somewhere along the way. you can see in his map that he's spending months of his time in florida, virginia, and ohio and a little bit of time in one of those other states that he thinks he might be able to get a pickup, whether that's wisconsin, whether that's colorado. those are the states he thinks he has the best chance. he's not spending time in iowa. he'll spend two different trips -- ending his campaign in new hampshire. he has an event in new hampshire over the weekend. he thinks he might be able to pick up there. that tells you a lot. i know a lot of republicans had hoped governor romney woul

make of virginia? what do you make of wisconsin? what do you make of colorado, nevada, iowa, new hampshire? >> well, look, the easiest way to look at this is even if you look at the real clear politics average which includes a lot of the goofy quinnipiac poles and marist polls. the republicans are winning, indiana,, north carolina, virginia and florida. in fact, if you take a look at that all of the mccain states plus 30s that they are waning and i do think they are going to win, republicans are going to win all four of these states. is they are at 248. then you look at ohio which i think the early vote numbers are clear indication of of what is going to happen in ohio. that s another 18 electoral votes. and then colorado which is, you know, is in the rcp average just under water, 9/10 of a percent. but that is largely because of a couple of outliar polls that have huge numbers more democrats than republicans. i think we are going to win colorado and that gets you 275. and we are going to pick up out of ohio, new hampshire, nevada or minnesota, pennsylvania or wisconsin we are go

incident you left washington and you went to nevada. that was for a fund-raiser. that's what they're doing and if you think of that many fund raisers, here's an interesting statistic for you. back in 1984, ronald reagan was incumbent president of the united states. he was running for reelection. his campaign had to raise money for the party even though he was taking the federal grant as everyone has until this year in the general election. ronald reagan attended in that year four fund raisers. >> compared to -- >> 221, so we have a president -- this is not an attack on obama. we have a president who is to some extent, not doing their job because they have to be off fund-raising. the romney people felt the same way. romney was heard to be complaining in his campaign that he couldn't go out and meet voters and do what he thought he had to do as a can at because he had to spend all of his time in closed rooms of wealthy people to fund raise in order to get his ads up for his campaign. he couldn't campaign. there's a great irony here and so you have two issues here. one is the time that the pr

are michigan and nevada and new mexico. the reason i believe that is if you read the distorted media polls, most of them start off with a far too many democrats and far too few republicans. the latest pew survey has a national margin of 3 points for obama has 4 points more democrats than republicans. but the gallup poll which is the most authoritative last week concluded that there were now three points more republicans than democrats in the country. so it's d-4 and the reality is r-3. so it's a 7-points distortion. so if you are showing romney losing by 3 he's running by 4. if you take the finding in the pew poll that republicans are 6% more likely to turn out than democrats. so instead of it being plus 7, instead of switching to it a romney win by 4, you now have a romney win by 6 or 7. and then you take the undecided vote which always goes against the i am couple bent. you allocate it 2 to 1 for romney you are talking about a win of 7-10 points. if you go through each of the states you can do a similar calculation. i don't want to exaggerate by saying 5 or more. but i think you will be

opponent in nevada and i think todd akin will be the winner in his race. host: is this a hobby of yours to follow politics? caller: yes. guest: i'm happy to answer a fellow hobbyists. it becomes your vocation if you let. in virginia, i can simplify the current situation for you. all the incumbents are going to win. they have done a marvelous job working with the state legislature in creating districts that it would be very difficult for them to lose them. so they get my gold star for self-serving artistry. that happens all over the country. so you are not gone to see any change in the virginia delegation this year, i don't believe. they all benefited from redistricting, democrats and republicans alike. as far as frank wolf, he is as secure as you can get. once he retires -- and he's been in there since early 1981 -- that district being located primarily in northern virginia in the more populous counties but also some more rural counties, that could be a competitive district. i think you are right about that. as far as the senate races, we believe dean heller will defeat shelley berkeley

. hispanics are a small slice, but a growing slice in virginia. this is not colorado or nevada or mexico. nonetheless, hispanics in virginia, as in many of the other states, to be very heavily democratic. and so, to the extent they turn out, even if they are only 4% of the statewide votes in any given year, they can assist democrats. let me mention asian americans, because they have become increasingly important in virginia, even though they are a small percentage of the population and the registered population. in northern virginia in particular, they have become exceptionally active. they give a lot of money to candidates. they are predominantly democratic, although slices of the asian-american population, such as vietnamese americans, will support republicans. it goes to show that in a diverse population, virginia has become tremendously diverse. when i was growing up, the white turnout on election day was about 85% of the total. as i mentioned, it's low 70's today. that makes a giant difference. you can tell it in the election results. even a small slice of the population can have a

they need to come back here one more time. we go to nevada, then ohio, then florida, ohio. then virginia, then ohio. they feel like even though they have got an event this afternoon at the airport in columbus they need to come back here one more time. very unusual for a presidential candidate to come out to do an event on election day. typically they wrap up around midnight as governor romney is planning to tonight in manchester, new hampshire with kid rock and others and go back to the home base and sit there and go vote. they wait for election results to come in that night. governor romney and his campaign feeling because they feel like they could grab ohio? they have been very confident about that with their conversations with me or they feel like they need to come back here because it is slipping away. we also don't know what type of event it will be or where it will be. the columbus, dayton area has been a focus. they want to reinforce ham milt ton county -- hamilton county in cincinnati or collier county in cleveland. we don't know what will happen or what form it will take because
